Summer Interns
The Archives has been fortunate to have additional help this summer.  Intern Matthew Kroll (a history major at UM-Dearborn) has been working on two main projects: organizing and cataloguing architectural drawings, and researching the outdoor sculptures on the grounds of Cranbrook House. Though the sculptures had been inventoried and some research had been done in previous years, Matt has taken the research back to original purchase records whenever possible. This has resulted in correcting misinformation as well as uncovering new stories that the docents of the Cranbrook House and Garden Auxiliary will be able to impart to visitors.  Intern Sarah Twedt has assisted with a variety of research projects, including compilation of a list of J. Robert F. Swanson (and Swanson and Associates) architecture projects for the Michigan Modern website.  In addition, she is researching the origin of the architectural fragments/elements that are built into the environment of the Cranbrook School campus and the Cranbrook Academy of Art.

Collection Open for Research
The Katherine and Michael McCoy Papers, processed by recent Wayne State University graduate, Rachel Muszkiewicz, are now avaiable for research.  Katherine and Michael McCoy were co-chairman of the design department at Cranbrook Academy of Art from 1971–1994. The collection contains materials relevant to the design department, and design projects for Cranbrook Educational Community as well as work the McCoys, especially Katherine, were involved in around the world.

New Images Uploaded to CONTENTdm
We have recently uploaded 30 historic images of the Booth's ancestral home town of Cranbrook, Kent, England.  The majority of the photographs were taken in July 1901 when the Booths (Henry and Clara, and George and Ellen) traveled there.
